She has been arrested in connection with the murder of Jove Day. If you are comfortable giving a statement to the authorities regarding her alibi, it may assist in her release.
I have the book you were all reading together. It's in a bag, there should be no fingerprints on it save those who were present, and I have photographs that Kaede took of her with timestamps that should be taken as proof of her being elsewhere at the time the murder was committed.
I cannot speak to what the authorities may or may not do. I agree they do not seem remarkably competent thus far.
However, any information we gather will be useful should we need to stage an escape at some point in the future.

I didn’t do any reading as much as showed up when she was reading out loud.
Do you need me to touch the book? [ what do finger prints have to do with this? also photographs. right. totally. ]
I can make a statement that I was with her. If I end up needing an alibi with the way the police here are working, I have someone I can ask. Or we find the orb and everyone disappears, right?
I am going to preface this with a caveat: none of what I am about to say is meant to be in judgement of your abilities. I have considerable experience with law enforcement in my home, and given that I do not know the nature of your life I am offering what I know as a preemptive measure. Do not take it personally if this information is already known to you, as I cannot guarantee that we will be able to speak long enough to justify wasting time discerning your skill.
( he is sometimes an absolute know-it-all, but mostly he's just tired of people's egos getting in the way of doing real work, so. enjoy your disclaimer, mal. )
Don't touch the book if you didn't at the time — they may count it as contamination of evidence.
It would be a good precaution to arrange an alibi beforehand — but given that we have gaps in what we know of this world's technology, alien physiology and pharmacology, please assume that the authorities in Vrefesea likely have access to greater resources than Qririe Cliffs. They may have the means to elicit the truth in such a fashion, and if you are not properly conditioned to withstand pharmacological compounds or mental intrusions they are very difficult to resist.
When speaking to the police it is best to give as little information as is possible while still seeming forthcoming and helpful. Do not volunteer information they do not ask for. You may unknowingly implicate yourself or others if they are of a mind to twist your words.
If you must lie, ensure whatever you must couch the statement in is as truthful as possible otherwise. It is more difficult to disprove something that is five percent untrue as opposed to ninety percent untrue, and such disparities are more likely to be forgiven as a product of perception and the fallibility of memory rather than immediately assumed to be malice.
Be polite, respectful, but do not take anything that is given to you to eat or drink. If you smoke, or produce any manner of garbage (such as a wrapper) take it with you when you leave.
Sadly, I have dealt with this sort of authority. Good to know most of it is consistent no matter where you show up. [ and what isn't, well, it's appreciated insight even if he doesn't voice it at every point. ]

I am acquainted with Clara Oswald.
( and anything more than that will wait until he answers the question. )

Are we sure these authorities will actually do the right thing? They seemed pretty set like they had their people without looking into it.
