garbagepilot: (When every one of them)

[She wants to argue that, to say that this ship is enormous and there are plenty of places to go, plenty of things to do and being here is hardly being trapped-

But that's her experience of space, isn't it? It had been Jakku that had felt like a prison for her, the endless desert the place that had contained her, and it had been flying that set her free.

So it's easier to let it go with a barely noticeable nod, to take in the rest of what he says. With a glance upwards, she frowns at the sunny sky.]

Did they say how often that happens? Or if we can program it so it stays nice in here?

[Now that she doesn't need the staff she slings the strap on it back over her shoulder so it sits securely across her back once more, shifts the swords so that she's holding one in each hand and the basket of her food is held securely in the crook of her elbow.

Two practice swords, a picnic basket, and a staff. Definitely what you need for an early morning walk.]
garbagepilot: (Quite the keeper of you)

[Oh. He does say it like it's entirely alien to him and she can't help thinking of Finn, of how awful he is at all things related to technology, and she has to bite down on her lip to keep from smiling. It's charming, that's all, but he doesn't need to know that.

And when he offers her his help her first instinct is to turn him down, to make up some excuse and slip away, but she hesitates as she's about to do just that. If they are going to be sharing a metal box, as he says, it would be better to form relationships with the people inside it with her. She knows she has a long way to go in terms of learning to be a people person and after all, how is she supposed to get better about it if she's always defaulting to being as closed off as she had been on Jakku? Jedi aren't like that.

So she nods, holding out the basket of food to him.]

I suppose I do owe you breakfast after waking you up so early.

I'm more used to a bartering system. We'll call it a trade.

[She likes his smile, she finds herself realizing a little abruptly, and before it's something she's entirely aware of she's giving him one in return. Hers isn't cheeky at all, more subdued and small but warm all the same, and she waves one of the swords at him to motion for him to follow her.]

Rey. Do you think you wait until I've finished my training to eat or should we just set up the picnic right away?
garbagepilot: (Cut me down to size)

[I'm used to waiting to eat.

It hits a little too close to home, a little too hard, and it makes her immediately reconsider.]

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to eat first.

[She leads the way to her little clearing, a small area near the stream where the lush grass turns into one big, smooth rock that's been perfect for practicing her forms on, the two trees where she intends to hang that hammock. She takes a seat first, setting the weapons aside as she settles down onto the soft grass rather than the stone, and motions for him to sit across from her and to hopefully put the basket down between them.]

It's light, but we can go and get more later.

[In the basket he'll find two thick, dense loaves of bread, more than enough fruit for two people, and a giant hunk of cheese that she's fairly sure she can cut at least vaguely into two equal halves.]
